Trustee Area 2
The Elk Grove Unified School District is the 4th largest school district in the state of California.
EGSD includes suburban and rural communities in the City of Elk Grove, parts of south Sacramento and Rancho Cordova, the communities of Franklin, Wilton, and Rancho Murrieta, and a large amount of the southern unincorporated area of Sacramento County. The district is home to 68 schools, more than 64,000 students, 2,500 teachers, and 3,500 staff members.
We anticipate that our district will continue to grow into the future. We plan to build 5-6 new schools in the next decade, and many more after that if growth patterns continue.
Board President Michael Vargas represents Trustee Area 2.
Trustee Area 2 covers parts of old Elk Grove, the Elk Grove Park, Camden, and other neighborhoods west of the railroad.
TA2 includes Elk Grove High School and Monterey Trail High School, along with their middle schools (Kerr and Edward Harris), Harriet Eddy MS, and about half of the feeder elementary schools for EGHS and MTHS.
TA2 is also home to the Jessie Baker alternative school, which provides individualized education to high-needs students with disabilities.
